Support and Education
As a contribution to the community, Sun Ridge offers support groups and education classes at no cost. A brief interview is required to help people determine if a particular support group or class is right for their needs.
Please note that the support groups and education classes Sun Ridge provides are NOT therapy groups. What is the difference?
Support Group - Provides emotional support, reduces feelings of isolation, and offers a sense of community for individuals facing similar challenges. A support group is typically open, which means people can join at any time and attend as schedules allow.
Education Class - Imparts knowledge and skills on a specific subject. An education class is typically closed, which means people can sign up when a new class opens for registration. Class size is limited (5 to 7 people) to allow sufficient time for all participants to discuss the material.
Therapy Group - Facilitates personal growth, addresses mental health issues, develops coping mechanisms, and builds interpersonal skills. There can be emphasis on group interaction, individual sharing, or both. Participants develop individual therapy goals with the group leader to identify direction, focus, and motivation for their therapeutic involvement. A therapy group may be open or closed.
